The panoramic views of the High Atlas Mountains and magnificent landscapes, scenery peppered by small Berber villages typical of the region. Then after reaching the peak of the Tizi Tichka we slowly start descending towards Ouarzazate. We will visit the extraordinary sight of the Atlas Mountains Kasbah Telouet. The crumbling Kasbah belonged to the powerful Glaoui tribe remembered as the “vulture” sultan and his son who lived there until the 1950’s. Once a beautiful Kasbah, but still worth the visit today as the history and drama will unfold itself. We will continue our trip via the Ounila Valley, route that offers unparalleled views of green valleys, river and remarkable colored slopes and hillsides.
We then reach another Ksar of Ait Benhaddou. It is one of the most spectacular sight of the High Atlas piled upon low hill above river. No one is really sure how old the Ksar is but there have been buildings here from at least the 16th century. It is collection of Kasbah that are among the most elaborately decorated and best preserved.

The the palm grovews will be slowly disappearing and barren volcanic mountains will lead our way to desert. Eventually we pass Rissni and start seeing the first spare desert dunes. Then we Merzouga and the magnificent apricot colored sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. As evening falls we retreat to the comforts and luxury of our desert camp where we will be greeted with mint tea and fresh dates or nuts. The camp is set in a beautiful spot between sand dunes and gives the impression of being alone in the vast African desert while enjoying the comforts of a nomad king. We will enjoy a delicious dinner followed by campfire time beneath the starry African sky. Nothing compares to the millions of stars, silence and peacefulness of the Sahara. We sleep in luxury tents feeling like we walk into one of the stories from the Arabian nights.
We recommend rising before the sunrise for the beautiful photographic moments, we will enjoy a breakfast and then head off into the vastness of the dunes on a camel caravan accompanied by camelteers. The sturdy camel has been a mainstay of desert life over the centuries, being used to ship the precious cargoes from Sub Saharan African to the trading ports of the Mediterranean coast. You can ride or walk alongside as you slip into the pace of the caravan led by Berber guides and marvel at the awesome spectacle of the desert and the solitude a silence that comes with it.
